8.1.2. Check of system of ignition
THE GENERAL DATA

The prevention

At work on system of ignition it is necessary to be careful with the included ignition, as it is possible to receive blow by a current from a high-voltage part of system of ignition. People with stimulators of warm activity are not recommended to check and make repair of system of ignition. Switch off ignition before a detachment or connection of any element of system of ignition or probeов the measuring device.

The basic malfunctions of system of ignition are caused by easing or oxidation of contacts, or short circuit on weight of a high voltage because of pollution, humidity or damage of isolation of high-voltage wires. Before drawing a conclusion on malfunction of any element in ignition system, check up a condition of wires or electric chains of system of ignition.

THE ENGINE IS NOT STARTED

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If at engine start the cranked shaft of the engine is not turned or turned very slowly, check up a condition and a gymnastics of the accumulator and a starter.
2. Connect probeы the voltmeter to plugs of the accumulator and disconnect the central high-voltage wire from a cover of the distributor of ignition and connect it to weight.
3. Include a starter no more than for 10 seconds and measure pressure on the accumulator.
4. If at work of a starter pressure becomes less, than 9,5 In, check up an accumulator condition, a starter and gymnastics system.
5. If at engine start the cranked shaft rotates with normal speed, using a stroboscope, check up a high-voltage part of system of ignition.
6. If at start of the engine the stroboscope blinks, means, the high voltage moves to spark plugs and it is necessary to check up a condition candles ignitions.
7. If the stroboscope does not blink, check up the central high-voltage wire going from the coil of ignition to a cover of the distributor, coal contact and a distributor rotor.
8. Also spark presence can be checked up, having removed a high-voltage wire from a spark plug and having fixed it so that between the end of a wire and the block of cylinders of the engine there was a backlash about 6 mm. The wire can be kept the tool with the isolated handles.
9. Turn the engine a starter and check up presence of a blue spark between a wire and the block of cylinders of the engine.
10. If the spark is present, check up a condition and working capacity of fuel system.
11. If the spark still has not appeared, disconnect the central high-voltage wire from a cover of the distributor of ignition, and fix it so that between the end of a wire and the block of cylinders of the engine there was a backlash about 6 mm. The wire can be kept the tool with the isolated handles.
12. Turn the engine a starter and check up presence of a blue spark between a wire and the block of cylinders of the engine.
13. Spark presence specifies that the ignition coil is serviceable, and faulty, probably, the cover of the distributor of ignition, a distributor rotor are, or the reason is deterioration of coal contact or a spring of coal contact in a cover of the distributor of ignition.
14. If the spark still has not appeared, check up reliability of connection of wires to the ignition coil. Probably also oxidation of wires of the distributor of ignition.
15. Clear contacts and repeatedly make check of system of ignition.
16. Using additional wires, connect the voltmeter or a control lamp between a wire of giving of pressure to the ignition coil (disconnected from the coil) and weight.
17. Absence of pressure specifies in damage of an electric chain of giving of pressure to the coil of ignition from the ignition lock.
18. Disconnect the condenser and check up pressure presence between mobile contact of the breaker and weight.
19. If pressure is present, means, the condenser has failed.
20. If pressure is absent, check up pressure presence between weight and the plug of the coil of ignition with a wire going to the distributor.
21. Pressure presence specifies in breakage of the wire connecting the coil of ignition and the distributor of ignition.
22. Absence of pressure specifies in malfunction of the coil of ignition.

IGNITION ADMISSIONS

Unsystematic admissions of ignition can be caused the weakened contacts, chain rupture in a control system of ignition or in a chain of a primary winding of the coil of ignition, damage of high-voltage wires.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Switch off ignition and check up that contacts on electric sockets of system of ignition pure and without corrosion traces.
2. Check up that the ignition coil, a cover of the distributor of ignition both high-voltage wires pure and dry.
3. Check up a condition of electric wires of spark plugs.
4. Then check up a cover of the distributor of ignition, coal contact and a rotor of the distributor of ignition.
5. Check of spark plugs can be made serial replacement of spark plugs by the new.
6. Constant admissions of ignition are caused, most likely, by defects in a cover of the distributor of ignition, the coil of ignition, high-voltage wires or spark plugs. For check of giving of a high voltage to spark plugs it is possible to use a stroboscope.
7. Absence of pressure only on one high-voltage wire testifies to damage of this wire or a cover of the distributor of ignition.
8. If pressure is present on all high-voltage wires, means, spark plugs are faulty.
9. At a high voltage total absence check up a secondary winding of the coil of ignition which can be damaged.
10. If at ignition system there are malfunctions which cannot be eliminated independently, it is necessary to address on servicing deport.

PRECAUTIONS

At performance of works on electric system not to damage semi-conductor devices (diodes and transistors), is necessary to fulfil following requirements:

  – In an operating time of the engine do not disconnect the accumulator, the generator of an alternating current or any electric sockets;
  – At carrying out of any works remove the negative plug from the accumulator;
  – At carrying out of electrowelding works on the car disconnect the generator of an alternating current and the electronic control device;
  – Do not suppose work of the engine with the generator disconnected from electric system;
  – Do not check working capacity of the generator, closing its target contacts on weight.
