12.2.2. Repair of a rack of a forward suspension bracket

The prevention

For removal and dismantling of a rack of a forward suspension bracket it is necessary to use a stripper of spherical hinges and the adaptation for compression of springs.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove a rack of a forward suspension bracket and remove from a rack of a forward suspension bracket a nave, the bearing of a wheel and a protective board of a brake disk. 2. Fix a rack of a forward suspension bracket in a vice with soft sponges and, using the special adaptation, compress a spring so that it has departed from the top part. At use of the special adaptation for compression of springs watch, that spring coils were reliably grasped, spring compression make from opposite sides. The spring has very big effort of compression, therefore use only very reliable tool. At all do not connect a spring a wire. 3. Fix a key a rod of the shock-absorber from проворачивания and, using the second накидной a key, unscrew the central nut of fastening of a rod of the shock-absorber. 4. Remove the top support of a rack and the bearing. 5. Remove the support of a spring directing the plug, амортизирующее a ring, a protective casing and a spring. On later models also remove rubber амортизирующее a ring. 6. From the top part of a telescopic rack unscrew a ring nut and remove the shock-absorber. 7. Because the nut is strongly tightened, turn a rack and clamp a nut in a vice with soft sponges and, having inserted a bolt into the lever of steering draught, mount unscrew a rack from a ring nut. 8. Take the shock-absorber from a rack. 9. Check up the shock-absorber on signs of leaks of an amortisation liquid. Check up on all length a shock-absorber rod on absence of dot corrosion. Check up the shock-absorber case on absence of mechanical damages. 10. Establish the shock-absorber in vertical position and check up its work, moving a shock-absorber rod at full capacity. The shock-absorber rod should move smoothly, with notable resistance. 11. If the shock-absorber rod moves with jerks or there are mechanically damages, the shock-absorber is subject to replacement. 12. Establish the shock-absorber in a rack and fix its ring nut. 13. Fix a rack in a vice with soft sponges and tighten a ring nut the demanded moment. 14. Establish rubber амортизирующее a ring and a cylindrical spring so that its bottom end has correctly settled down in the bottom nest of a spring. 15. Grease the bearing of the top fastening of a rack of a forward suspension bracket with greasing GM 19 41 574. The bearing is an integral part of the top support of a rack of a forward suspension bracket. 16. Establish the top fastening of a rack on a piston rod, thus check up that the bottom persistent washer is established by the lifted edge upwards (And – the bottom persistent washer, In – the top persistent washer). 17. Screw a nut on a rod of the shock-absorber and tighten its demanded moment. Thus keep a rod of the shock-absorber from проворачивания the second wrench. 18. Slowly ослабьте the tool for spring compression. Check up that extreme coils of a spring have correctly settled down in spring support. 19. Establish a rack of a forward suspension bracket on the car.
